8 trainings for tourism entrepreneurs have been held in Latvia

Autumn training cycle that included all together 8 different trainings about Latvian cultural heritage issues has been concluded. These trainings offered a wide range of possibilities for tourism entrepreneurs to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge about such issues as Latvian cuisine, traditional architecture, inner design and regional co-operation, event organization.
First video roll "Autumn in the Rural Latvia" is ready

In order to promote Latvian Rural tourism and Latvian heritage, 10 video rolls will be produced in the framework of project "Heritage Tourism". The idea of these rolls is to show traditions, lifestyle and values that can be experienced and tasted by local and foreign tourists in Latvia.
Consultants are selected for Heritage Tourism consultation programme

The Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce and Latvian Country Tourism Association "Lauku Celotajs" arranged in April 2012 tenders for selecting experts, who will support 15 rural tourism businesses from Estonia and 15 from Latvia during consultation programme. The experts will compose in close co-operation with businesses an action plan and support the implementation of these action plans with their professional expertise.

In the framework of project “Heritage Tourism” two trainings in Estonia and two in Latvia were arranged for rural tourism businesses about service design.
Estonian and Latvian rural tourism organizations are updating the rural tourism classification and quality systems

NGO Estonian Rural Tourism and Latvian country tourism association „Lauku Celotajs“ have started to update the rural tourism classification and quality systems in order to bring the requirements into line with changed customer expectations. Also new criterias will be created dealing with cultural heritage in services of rural tourism businesses.

Project “Heritage Tourism” Steering Group approved in its meeting in 30.03.2012 the list of 30 rural tourism farms who’s applications received the highest score from evaluation committee. The main consultation needs of these businesses are: preparation and serving of national food (14 businesses), using cultural heritage in architecture (6 businesses) and inner decoration (10 businesses) of premises, arrangement of traditional events and composing heritage related programmes for visitors (11 businesses).

Project “Heritage Tourism” informational events will be arranged in: 1 February 2012, 11.00-14.00 in Veski tavern, Kuressaare, Pärna str.19; 2 February 2012, 11.00-14.00 in Tartu City Museum, caffee ”Katariina”, Tartu, Narva str. 23; 17 February 2012, in Tallinn during tourism fair ”Tourest” at 12.30-13.00 in room B-2, Estonian Fair Center. During informational events project aims, activities and opportunities for rural tourism businesses to participate in trainings and consultation programme will be introduced.
